Ahhhhhh....finally.... got it!

Its the connector for PIN# 4 (purple and red wire).

Instead of tape...I just pushed the pin# 4 out of the plug.

You will need a small flat head screwdriver (the kind you would use to repair your eyeglasses) to lift up the white plastic snap on.....then at the same time....use another screwdriver to push the pin out.

Took me about 15 mins to push this dang pin out because its almost 1 AM and the lighting in my garage sucks..... plus my back was starting to hurt (not much slack from the plug).

Thanks JacobT!!!

Pete

PHML,

Thanks for the pictures.

What year is your car?

I could've sworn that my #4 pin WASN'T the purple and red wire....it was all purple, but I'll check on it again tomorrow.

PHML, did you have ANOTHER purple and red somewhere in the connector? Cuz I definitely had one purple and red wire, but I'm positive that one wasnt pin #4.

Looks like you guys got it all figured out. I didn't even have a chance to post come pics yet. YES. pin #4 is the one. The wire color may very from different model year but the LW module is the same.

After disconnect #4 pin, your rear deck 3rd brake light warning will no longer work( that's the whole purpose of doing this, right? ) but other bulbs warnings are still working. So if any other bulb fails, you still get a warning on the dash.

You were right, the #4 wire IS purple and red on my car. I just wasn't seeing the red from the angle I was looking at.

Well, I'm having one hell of a time trying to push that pin out, would it be the same thing just to cut that wire?

it's not hard to push the pin out, but cutting the wire would do the same.

BTW, pushing this out, all the brake light warning for ALL the brake light will be disabled, not just the 3rd brake light, from reading the circuit diagram, all brake light warning use this same signal to signal the dash light when one of the brake light burn out

that is why i did not post this earlier (i've know about this for months already), and stay with the resistor solution. but how often your brake light burn out anyway hee hee

I could not for the life of my push that pin out, the plastic piece was beginning to deform so I just decided to cut it.

My fingers are very sore but cutting it works, no dash light.

I'm not too concerned about not having a dash light indicator for failed taillights, like Banana said, how often do your brake lights burn out anyways?

I just rewired my brake lights to a lá Banana GS so if one burns out, there are 4 more to go

hey Intellexual,
there is a lock thingy on the other side of the plug (lock ALL the pin down), you have to release this lock first and then use a small needle to release the second lock next to the pin itself, then the pin will slide out.

I update my webpage to include this modz.
also, want to see where I mount my resistor box?

It's the side wall where the first aid kit bag attached to. That is the piece of carpet you have to remove to see the module.

Johnny,

What are you trying to do - disable the third brake light on the rear deck? Or just turn off the warning light on the dash (what this mod does).

I did it on mine when I replaced my rear deck, worked like a champ.
