Although hard to tell from the pics, I don't think TLW has a third brake light any more (which I agree is a bad thing). I don't know if it is federal but the third brake light is legally required to be there in CA. I think he is just looking to get rid of the warning light but I think the "correct" solution would be to trade with someone with a deck light.

Gee, Dave, if this was the case, it might have saved you some trouble if a trade can be engineered.

Well...if I had a JP rear trunk spoiler....I would keep the 3rd brake light working for those who have it.

For those who had OEM rear spoiler with LED brake light on the spoiler (no rear deck 3rd brake light) and replace with JP spoiler....I'd do this mod so the warning light on the dash is eliminated.

And that was exactly my situation as well. I definitely WANT a third brake light (like the LED one on the OEM spoiler), but I don't want the fourth one on the back deck in addition to that lighting up. I blacked mine out at first, then eventually replaced the entire back deck as well to get rid of the unsightly lump.

Johnny, have you taken bulbs out of the one on your back deck already? If not and your warning light is going on/off you probably have a burnt out or loose bulb / connection. Before you disconnect it, I'd troubleshoot why it's going off.

---------------------
Edit - nevermind! You don't have one of those at all now I see...

Suggest you find someone with a 3rd brakelight deck to swap with you! Mine's been cut up or I'd do it.

what interior you have? if it's tan, you should have traded your rear deck with davegs4! hahaha

and yes, i agree, without the 3rd brake light is a very dangerous and illegal thing to do

Ok guys I just need a little clarification on what I need to do here. I have DEPO tails installed, and what i'm trying to do is disable the warning indicator.., without disabling any of my tailights, I want my 3rd brake light to continue working. Which DIY do a follow?

You will need a small flat head screwdriver (the kind you would use to repair your eyeglasses) to lift up the white plastic snap on.....then at the same time....use another screwdriver to push the pin out.

Took me about 15 mins to push this dang pin out because its almost 1 AM and the lighting in my garage sucks..... plus my back was starting to hurt (not much slack from the plug).

Thanks JacobT!!!

the 1st 2 quotes are what did it for me. i ended up just cutting that #4 wire & no more indicator light on the dash. all my brake lights still work. i don't know why the pictures didn't show with the quote. but they are on the 2nd page of this thread.
