Is their a way to change how manumatic buttons shift?

Default Is their a way to change how manumatic buttons shift?
I think my car would be much more fun to drive if the manumatic shift buttons would act like a true standard. That means if I put it in 3rd it stays in third from idle to rev limiter. This way you could do full throttle short shifts ect. Or lug the engine if you wish. Is there a way of reprograming the ecu to accomplish this? I don't get why Lexus did not do this from the beginning but I suspect some lawyer
