Default Kenwood DNX 5220BT & some install questions

As the title says, I have an opportunity to get one for £200, so whats that, about $360 ish?

Only bad points I can see are that it has front and rear pre outs with the rear being sub switchable. As I want to fit my own amp and subs, my amp has one channel for the sub and another that I want to use for a rear speaker.

I was wondering how feasable it would be to replace the stock sub for a mid range speaker and use this as the rear.

As the Kenwood effectively only has front and sub pre out (in my setup) could I use the front pre out to drive the rear Mid range speaker or is this a stupid idea?

ummmmm try this idea go to the stereo shop and talk to them about it and see what they recommend. You sound like you have very little experience with such things. Hell to go 4 or 5 stereo shops and see what they all have to say. the midrange speaker to replace the rear sub is probably not a good idea, especially if you are going to put subs in the trunk. The "rear" speakers should be the speakers in the rear door.
