Default swapping gauge clusters, what about mileage?

Hey guys, just curious what would happen if I swap out gauge clusters for a new one... Do I need to find one with similar mileage, or is it stored elsewhere in the car? Thanks

I thought you needed the tool that only the dealer or manufacturer can supply to change a digital odo??

I believe it's stored in the cluster, it can be changed as when the dealer installs a new cluster they set it to the mileage of the old one. Not sure what process or tool they do it with, I haven't seen anywhere in techstream yet to change it.

Just find one with similar miles. Easiest solution!

Im just saying it might be nice to own a 2nd cluster... swapped dudes know what Im talkin about.. Anyway, I was looking online for a cluster with similar miles to mine, but nothing is even close. If they can be changed, all the better!

Sure, but you'd need to drop between $3000-$8000 on a programmer first

Default Cluster replacement

Im looking to replace mine on my 2010 lexus is250 it does not have the right miles not actual mileage. Looking to buy another cluster with lower miles. Is it a plug ans play feature? Or do i have to reprogram it or calibrate it? Or will it be cheaper to take the current one to dealership to get it reprogram it?

Because i bought the car salvage and title stated not actual mileage since it was vadelize as well they tried stealing it ans took oit the old cluster. Someone somewhere along the road or sometjing something strapped up another cluster. Anyway i checked and ran history on the car and in 2017 last December it says csr has 36,435 miles on car last time it for registerd. I bought it this year 2 months ago snd cluster reads 120 k miles

Search Tannin Auto they do cluster upgrades. Though you don't have the original cluster. I'm not sure you'll get an accurate milage.
