i guess i would go with the 2gs since theres more mods out there and i can just buy a cheaper car with money left over for mods.
I'm with u...... I feel the same way.

Well from a power point of view 2Gs over 3gs and other's in comparision.

IMO the 98-00 2Gen's were on top of the game. As the years went by the compition passed ahead. Even back then the BMW M5 in 2000 was only making 394hp, the 740i made 324hp, and the same class Audi, BMW and others were all under the 300hp mark. BMW 540i had 284hp. But the power output of the gs never seemed to climb up but the others did since then. Even the IS-F only came up with 406Hp years later, which if had happened back in 2000 would have be some answer to the M5.

By 2005 even the audi A6 4.2 quattro was making 335hp, though they had taken the lead with the A8 L W12 quattro Sedan at 450HP. The same year BMW's 545i sedan was making 330hp, yet still for those that want that extra edge the 760i 438Hp was available. The lexus GS 430 still only made the same ol' 300hp while the other's went from behind to the lead.

By 2010 the GS 350 is making, yup you guessed it, 305hp. Thank goodness though we have the GS460 which gives up a whopping 342hp. Only the base Jaguar XF has less power from a V8, all the rest are ahead. The Audi A6 and Infiniti M56 both a great choice, or even a Mercedes-Benz E-Class. And the 2010 LS 600h at least is making 438Hp. Back in 2000 the LS was the same power level as the GS.

Just for fun lets look at the 2012's. 2012 Audi A6 Sedan is now only a 310-horsepower supercharged V6. But at least the old V8 4.2 quattro is now making 378Hp and the larger engine in the A8 L W12 6.3 quattro Sedan is making 500Hp. Now were talking. The BMW's 5 Series gets a V-8 4.4 twinturbo good for 400hp. The BMW Alpina B7 LWB makes 500Hp like the audi (enough to spin the stock 21" wheels), and the 7 series has the 760i making 535hp. For Jaguar the base XJ makes 385 horsepower, while the Supercharged model puts out 470Hp and the Supersport 510 horses. Lexus gives us the 2012 GS with 306Hp the GS450h at 338. The gs460 is dropped from the line-up. The IS-F at 416Hp. And the large Lexus line has the LS 460 make 380Hp and the Ls 600h 438Hp. nothing in the 500's. Oh except the LFA, but the there's a world of super cars cheaper and faster.

2012 Jaguar XKR-S 550Hp 132000$
2012 Audi R8 560Hp 196000$
2012 Lexus LFA 550Hp 375000$ (yikes)

Just my 2cents.

To lexus I say please give me a GS model as "Wicked" as the old GS400.
