Trying to dis-assemble some ssr wheels...please help!
So I picked up some SSR GT3 wheels. I've removed all of the bolts, but the face isn't budging. I stood on it (195 pounds) and it wouldn't budge. Any tips? Earlier this morning, I removed an Asanti face with ease.
Also on a side note. Anyone got recommendations on who can redrill them from 5X120 to 5X114.3 super quick in socal? I will call VR wheels tomorrow morning, but just in case that falls through I would like to have some other leads ready. I need to drop these off tomorrow.
Yeah the centers are welded in too. They have to be cut out. He had his cut out. I was gonna do the same thing but for the price they wanted to charge, it wasn't worth it do I bought new wheels & kept my SSRs as spares.
I appreciate your info, but I just do not see where they got a weld in. I can see a separation line between the face and the barrel. It just looks like the face is press fit on there. I think corrosion may be the problem.
Put the wheel face down on cardboard and get a 2x4 and a BIG hammer and hammer the face from the back with 2x4 and hammer. I did my SSR GPOs that way the face is not welded. The barrels are welded. Hope that helps

Thanks, geeznuts. Did you just wack the center of the face or the spoke too? I don't want to crack a spoke on this thing.
Also, do you know if these faces will fit American style lips. I want to move these faces into some Asanti barrels I have which are wider. That's why I want to get them apart today. I want to confirm they will fit before I have them redrilled. I need to figure this out asap because I want to drop them off tomorrow to be redrilled.
Thanks for the advice fellas. I just got the center out using a rubber mallet and a 2x4. I was afraid at first, but a couple blows to each spoke got it to give.

I am not trying to make fun of you, but unless you have a special set of gt3's someone lied to you. A rubber mallet and a 2x4 got mines out.
