With all the suggestions I didn't see anyone say check the your tires for cupping / feathering by running you the palm of your hand over the surface of the tires to check for high spots.

I had the same problem and it was bad rotors, got the brakes redone (for half of what the dealer was trying to charge me and it been rock solid for the last 3 months. I replaced ball joints and some other parts that were needed because of age but there weren't the cause of the shakes.

Michael, what year is your GS? I have a lil shake in my 03. Thanks

Its a 2002 GS430, Black on Black with everything.

As soon as i replaced the rotors and got new wheels and tires it went away. I also replaced the ball joints because of age and the tie rod ends because they were going but that wasn't the cause of the shaking. I have 140,000 miles on it and i bout it with 115,000. I needed another set of rims for my summer tires so i got a set of 17" American Racing wheels and 4 Michelin Super Sports. I need struts/coil-overs but other than that its riding great.

Make sure your 2nd set of wheels clear your front brakes....
