Default BodyKit Owners - Paint Question??

For those of you who have fiberglass kits, I was wonder how hard your paint is. On my front and rear bumper, if I press my nail into the paint, it leaves a little indentation in it. Is this normal. I have a lot of chips on my front bumper already....well they aren't really chips, it is like a rock hit the bumper and the paint is starting to peel in that place. I always thought the paint is suppose to be hard.

paint should never be as soft as you described. not to the point where it can leave an indentation if you press it. maybe the shop you went to didnt use enough hardener when they mixed the paint. i doubt even a crappy paint brand would let you leave indentations. as with rock chips...no matter what paint you use, if your kit sits low enough, you're going to get rock chips...especially if you drive on the highway alot. you can try to have someone put a few more coats of clear coat on it to help the situation, or you can buy something like that X-pel product alot of people use now. i painted my car about 2 months ago, and i drive on the freeway to work everyday. needless to say, my front bumper looks wrecked .

i have alot of problems on my front bumper of my Eclipse, but it sits super low......i think my problem was that when i got it repainted, the first day out was a very warm day and the clear coat got soft, i dont know if the case could be the same for you, but you may need a better clear coat on it

Talking paint

paint should stick to whatever you put it on. It sounds like the shop you used is horrible. i would take it back and show them the evidence. harding agents in the paint is crucial and also some types of clearcoat tend to not be good if not applied throughly. But it should be better than how you described.
