Default Adding Navigation to a non Nav GS 300

I purchased the head unit from a guy for 250. I went and tried to install it and it would not work. Not even the A/C would come on. I want to know what i need to get this working the cheapest way.

I have see some brain/hard drive system but I am not sure if this is what I need.

Would i need something like the unit below with a hard drive or is there a better option??

It really is not realistic to switch a non nav. car to a nav car. There is much more to it than simply swapping the center unit. You would need to switch the wiring harness's and buy several other parts from Lexus. If you want nav, it is much cheaper and easier to pick up an aftermarket unit.

I know, but i want to keep the car as factory as possible. The sound system on this car sounds awesome stock and I know when you go with an after market unit the speakers don't work as well and the amps don't work at all. I already have the head unit and i am picking up a NAV brain where the hard drive goes. I am trying to find the connector plugs so I can make my own wiring harness.

There are still some things that I am unclear about because I am not familiar with the car.

I have also heard about a loop wiring harness someone made so you can use the head unit for radio and a/c without nav, but I have not found anything on that.

I have documented much of what has been asked in this thread here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...m-upgrade.html

I did a nav to aftermarket, but the pics show the equipment, wiring harness and location of the the stock nav hardware.
