No it's the plastic that will break ore wear where it shouldn't. Of course I am assuming your issue is the plastic thing. To take the console out you put the parking brake on turn the ignition on (without engine on) put foot on brake, shift to 2 gear. Then lift center console cover up and pry on each end of cover in the corners near center console with a thin screw driver covered with tape. If you have a good grip you can do it with your hands only. I forgot first remove ash tray. Then after you get the back corner off you unplugg 3 plugs then pull back to disconnect snap fits under ash tray area then carefully pull off. You still will have to take shift cover off but before you do that you should be able to see if the end of the shifter crack thing is in correctly (near the end by the center console.

On this post notice the white guide for the shifter crack cover. Make sure your shifter crack cover is in that white guide like in this picture

Look at step two

Heres the vid.. As you can see it goes smoothly through all the gears, but once i get to "m" its difficult to slide in. When i wiggle it a little up or down it goes in a little smoother, but it won't go smoothly straight across like its supposed to. Also it sides out of the gear real smooth. Any ideas?
