Default TCM Humming / P1349/ Issues

1998 Lexus Gs300
2001 Lexus IS Motor

Hey All,

I've been having a few issues with my GS3 lately. Main issue being a P1349 code. The car used to turn over, but as of now it cranks and will start for a second and die.

I was able to get the car started a month ago,and was able to get it from NJ to CT, with the idle adjusted so it wouldn't stall. I didn't feel comfortable driving it afterwards so it has been sitting since.

I've tried remedying the issue by replacing the OCV, CTS, header and all o2 sensors. None of which solved the P1349 issue.

I've read that it could be the VVT gear, which I'm hoping its not. I think it might be the ECU because there seems to be some glitches in the car. The trans shifts hard, and also gas is needed for the trans to engage in reverse, instead of it being instant. Also when I went to use the window once while driving it felt as if the car was about to come to a halt. My brake light fuse is also blowing out intermittently.

Also yesterday while was switching out the TB I could hear the Throttle Control Motor humming. This was with the key in the on position. Is this normal? the humming would stop as soon as I removed the connector. And in the past when the connector was removed the car would idle normally.

Any type of help on what I should do is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Are you using the 2001 ECU?

No using the original 98 GS ECU. I was under the impression the IS ECU would not plug up, nor needed.

That might be your issue. The ECU was the same from 1998 until mid year 2001 I believe. You might have a 2001.5+ engine if it even matters. I'm not an expert.

Ah ok. I appreciate the help though. I'll look into '01 GS3/IS3 ECU specs in comparison to the '98 GS3/IS3 ECU.

If anything else pops in your head at what the root cause could be, please don't hesitate.

Thanks again.

Hmm according to this my '98 ECU is 16bit while the 01+ GS3/IS3 ECUs are 32bit.

I wonder if that is the issue right there.

I was just having a look at the same diagrams.

This may be a stupid question, but wouldn't the fact I used my harness and ECU nullify the issue that its an 01+ motor?

Is it possible for a clogged fuel filter or bad pump to cause the P1349 code?
