Default Leather on the steering wheel

Anybody with a leather steering wheel experience it fading and crumbling? I just feel like a car of this caliber shouldn't be having these problems considering I've owned GM & Chrysler products with leather steering wheels that have held up better then my GS has or maybe I'm overly **** and expecting to much

I'm having the same issue. You can always put one of those covers but even the nice ones will thicken up the steering wheel and its not to my liking.

Looking forward to others suggestions...

Don't have any issues with mine. I have a 2000. I've seen it happen to other GS cars, but not sure of the cause. I'm guessing a ring rubbing on the leather, lack of leather treatment, excessive sun etc. Stuff will happen eventually I guess. Could always get it dyed or use a steering wheel cover. Worst case, replace the whole wheel.

Mine was doing the same with a lot of miles on it. This has happened to every car I've owned eventually so I hesitate to blame Lexus definitely. Replaced the wheel in my GS with a wood wheel as it was fading/cracking like posted above.

This is pretty normal if it's exposed to sun and you don't condition it

Swap steering wheels

Use a heavy all purpose cleaner on it and that should even the color out. I've clean this type of wheel all the time.
