Default Can't see it

Hello fellow lexus addicts, I have a 2001 Gs430 and having starter problems. Sometimes i get a click when itry to start but not sometimes it starts on the first key turn. The starter is obviously going and i need to replace it. I'm pretty handy in the tools department but embarassed to say, I can't even see it. Can anyone please help me out. Is this a job i shouldn't tackle?

Boy, you sure picked a project! (or the project picked you). The starter for the 430 is in the middle of the engine, it's not on the underside like many cars. You have to take off the entire intake, including the intake manifolds and part of the cooling system. You will have to drain the coolant. It's in the middle of the "V" of the V8. It's quite a project. Start by checking relays first, maybe you'll get lucky.

Thank you guys for all your help. Tin man especially. Your advice was very helpful. I knew that i wasn't that blind. LOL. I will have my mechanic take a look and see what he would charge me but i will look at the relays first thing tomorrow morning. Wish me luck.
