Default Aristo swap trans shifting issues/questions

just did my aristo swap in a 98 gs3. the stock shifter is a little screwy though, D gets you 1 2 3 4 TC lock. click over to where 4 is supposed to be and the 3 light comes on in the cluster. the 3 position gets you the same as D, no changes in shifting. next click down, which is 3 on the shift gate gets you 2 on the cluster and the trans stays in 2nd. 2 on the shiftgate gets 1 on the cluster and the trans stays in 1st.
if im driving at say 40mph, and floor it, it will only drop to 3rd gear, instead of 2nd gear.
power mode switch has no effect on trans behavior.

overall its lacking the "sporty" feel i think it should have, any ideas on what the issue may be with the gear positions now being wrong/not working properly? id like to get a wheel with sportshift and the matching clockspring and get that working as it might improve things slightly. not being able to kick down to 2nd is annoying.
Thanks!

I am not sure if the gs300 comes with a kick down switch under the gas pedal, but I remember my 97 SC300 had this same issue when I did a 2jzgte swap in it. The issue with the trans not kicking down was the kick down switch or donut looking thing under the gas pedal which forces the trans to downshift. It had to be wired to the kick down switch on the ecu and grounded. Not sure if the vvti ecu's need this for proper downshifting, but my non-vvti ecu had a spot for it on the harness. Search supra twin turbo kick down switch on google for more info.
