*DIY* SIMPLE EASY NO FUSS AUX INPUT for factory headunit
#32
I chose to install the plug in the face of my head unit, you can run the wires anywhere you want and put the plug anywhere. Doesn't need to be in the face. I like it there cause it looks stock.

Just did this mod a couple of days ago and it works perfectly. Thanks for uploading it.
I just have one question though: how were you able to mount the jack on the face of the headunit? It seems like the face circuit board is completely blocking it.

JayNunu you da man.
Just finished this 10 minutes ago and it sounds great. I have never soldered anything before in my life and was super nervous. Practiced some on some wires I had laying around and decided to charge head first. Did a trial run before I mounted everything back and worked perfect.
On a side note, got super nervous because it died out 5 minutes in to it. I'm like ah crap, I done effed up now. Looked at my headlights and thought, hmm, kind of dim. Tried to start the car and lots of clicking. Gave the optimum battery 3 minutes and she turned right over. Left the car running and starting jamming again. Loved it.
Thank you again JayNunu
Buhrt, if you pull off where the LCD screen and the circuit board for your station buttons, etc. and dremmel out some unnecessary plastic, drill a 3/16 or 7/32 hole, the little jack fits perfectly in there, route the wires aound and everything will sit flush. Doing it this way really gives it a super clean look, like factory.

GokuSSJ3, I know you're looking for an 01 and newer. I have a 98 and on the bottom of my HU it says Pioneer Electronic Corp.
I can't tell you that it's going to work with yours, but maybe if you put a pic of the front of the HU online might help. Also, you should just pull the HU out and at least take it apart. If the circuiting looks the same I don't see why it wouldn't work.

@GGlover, thanks. I'm glad it worked for you. Enjoy!
@GokuSSJ3, because I don't have all the different HU's, the 98-00 Pioneer is the only HU I've been able to open up and look at. Best thing to do is open it up and see what you got. Post up a picture if you're not sure and I can help.
@Buhrt, your welcome. And just like GGlover said, a little trimming on the back of the face and a hole on the circuit board right next to the mounting screw (there are no traces on the board there, hold it up to the light and you will see.)
If anyone would like it done and don't feel like they can do it themselves, shoot me a PM and we will see what we can do. (I'm currently doing 2 for CL members.)

I took my radio apart and no upper tuner board was there. I sent Jay a PM so maybe I can ship him my 2002 so he can figure that one out.
