I did this mod a few weeks ago and it works perfectly with zero problems at all. The sound quality is as good as a CD, the only issue being that if you turn the volume up too high on your ipod or mp3 player, it gets a bit distorted. However this is a problem I've had on other headunits, and is not specific to this mod.

Thanks for the writeup... just to be clear, cutting into the board WONT affect fm/am raido or cd music? Also this works with the nakamichi headunit?

luda42688, I'm trying to get someone to send me their HU so I can take it apart and figure it out.
But for now it works on the 98-00 PIONEER only.

Buhrt, I figured out the amplified volume out of the phone/Ipod is too high for the input of the factory amp. But all you have to do is turn it down a little and you're good.

DAMMMM I was wishing it weren't true. When it comes to these gahd dam NAKI HU's, it seems like you can't do ***** with them. Has anyone even dropped an indash in replace for a naki unit with eas? I searched and couldnt find anything.

 

I have a member sending me the newer HU. I will update everyone once I can take it apart and figure somethin out.
