ML Subwoofer replaced with jl 10w1v2-4
I just replaced my blown ML subwoofer with jl 10w1v2-4. The original wires has 2 wires attached to the ML subwoofer. Its red and yellow but it was crossed to Black with red line and Black with grey(???) line(forgot what color). So on the connector from the redio out to ML subwoofer, the Red wire attach to the ML subwoofer was attached to the Black with grey and the Yellow wire attached to ML subwoofer was attached to Black with red line. I measured the voltage and the Yellow wire is positive because its attached to Black with red line.
I finally put the yellow wire on jl 10w1v2-4 red plug and red wire on the black plug on the jl 10w1v2-4.
Lots of people has replaced the oem subwoofer with jl 10w1v2-4 and I believe I put in correctly, but just what happen if I reversed the wires?

The woofer will "pump" the other way. If the way its wired right now is pushing outward, reversing the wires is, well reversing the direction its pumping and go inwards instead. In a stock setup like this, not really much notice in sound to the untrained ear.

Just make your own. Its quite easy.
Get a piece of 1/4 plywood (for its light weight) trace the factory woofer (facedown) and cut an inch around it. Trace the mounting holes of of the factory woofer and there you go you've now got a matching plate. Now with that board, find the center and use a compass to make the proper size hole for the new woofer and mount the woofer on the new plate.
This will work, given the new woofer fits through the oem hole in the rear deck. Paint the board black for stealth.
Easier way... Mount new woofer in factory location and use taping screws and drill into the deck (yuck)

I just replaced the factory sub as well. I ended up cuting the factory subwoofer basket (was crap anyway) and screwed the new one to it. Stiff as well and fits like a charm. I instaled an old Alpine 5channel amp with a pionner dvd headunit and found a way to trim the speaker box to fit 5 1/4 drivers. The most painfull thing is wiring the entire setup but once it's done the sound is awesome.
4 x Peerless 5 1/4 drivers
2 x Peerless tweeter and crossover.
1 x 10inch HiVi research subwoofer.
The Pionner amp and sub is a huge POS the rest is pretty fine if you drive it with a good amp and get a properly made Sub (though open box sub are not easy to find and you can't make it punch as hard as with a ported box).
