from like within 20miles after the low fuel light comes on?
I can get it about 17-17.5 gallons..
But, I have put in as much as 18..
isnt this about the norm?
Im wondering if my probs are relaying to running it too low and the fuel pump ended up being exposed to air.. (which they don't like bc the fuel does the cooling of the pump).

A lot of times over gone with the GAS LIGHT on for 20+ miles and I've never filled up with more than 16-17 gallons. I'm assuming that the light comes when there is still about 2-3 gallons in the car.

In the last 4 years, I have never seen my fuel light go on. I think that you can clog up your fuel injectors when you get to the bottom of your tank and pick up the garabage that settles at the bottom. Comments???

Seems like you would have the same problem each time you fill your tank or corner your car. In both cases any stuff at the bottom of the tank is mixed up and put into solution.
However, stuff is bound to get in the tank. Does anyone know if the tank has a drain plug? If so, it might be worth pulling it ever few years.

less places to develop a leak.
When they get that trashy inside its time to replace or remove and clean-reseal.
I doubt its related to picking up trash that had accumulated. Most pumps are within about 1" from the bottom of the tank.. and that will be there regardless of how low you run it. They also normally have a sock of fine nylon mesh.. that will prevent the big stuff from going in.
PS.. see the update to

bc it might be of value.
The're going to earn their labor money.. with it being full of fuel..
they better hope they got a pump and tank to dump it into b4 taking it down (and it better be clean)

I always wonder why I could fill up to 17 gallon while the manual says the tank has 20 cap. Whenever the light goes on, I can still drive the car for at least 40 miles.

let me ask u guys a question:
do you guys notice that when you turn off ur car and when you start it back up, the fuel gauge is actually a bit lower than what it was when u turned off the car? if so, why does it do that?

Also, about the gas light coming on early:
The gas pump may be using the fuel as a lubricant, so when the tank is low, the pump may be sucking in some air. This would wear the pump out sooner, causing failure after the warranty goes out. That may be the reason.
Does someone know whether the fuel pump is self-lubricated or lubricated by the fuel going through it?
