does anyone know how much it will cost for the dealers to change the brake pads? Or should I go for aftermarket brake pads? (TOM'S X'Dynamic Sport brake pads only cost 60 bucks for a set of 4.) How many brake pads do I need? 8? (sorry i don't know much about brake pads)

No idea about an IS but I love Mintex Red box pads. Very little dust and good pedal feel. I have used them on two different cars. Usually about $45 per axle.

Default good deal

Globe,

$60 for a set of toms is great price. i think you only need 4( 1 set). for dealers, you need to call around and find out the parts and labor costs.

if you want the oem(lexus pad), try steve, or www.irontoads.com, they both carry lexus parts at discount.

where can you buy the TOMS pads?

will

Don't have the dealer change your pads, they will rip you off. If you have ever changed brake pads before, the pads on the GS are by far the easiest you will encounter. I changed my front and rear pads in 30 minutes, by myself using an air gun and a good jack.

If your interested you can also go with the TRD Japan brakes for your GS

Front pads-$99.00 set of (4)
Rear pads-$99.00 set of (4)

It's another option out there if your not happy with the OEM pads

THANKS everyone!

I dont' know where to get TOMs stuff (if necessary I'll have to beg my cousin to go to japan), but

http://www.autodynamic.com/brake_pad_lexus.htm

they have some. Although all out of stock, at least they can gett them as time goes by.

Steve, about the TRD pads:

thanks for telling me how many I need. How are the TRD pads? do they kill the rotor really fast?

And for anyone, what am I looking at for the labor of changing the pads?
