Default Exterior mirrors

What is the difference between a mirror with memory and one without on a 2000 GS300? How can you tell which one you have?

check inside your car, if your car has the 1, 2, and set button then it should have memory

pretty sure ALL model 2nd gen gs have memory factory.....never seen one without it yet or recall reading anything about one not having it

are you buying a replacement from a website or company and it lists them as with/without memory?

Just like what Sakataj mentioned above, all 2nd gen GS (USDM) have side mirrors with memory function.

Those button have no function if the mirrors do not have the memory capability. JDM power folding mirrors on my car for example will go haywire when I press the 1 or 2 buttons. The reason for this is there are no feedback signal to tell the door ecu that the set memory position has been reached.

I hope this answered your question OP.

Thanks for the replies.

I need to buy a new mirror and some of the online dealer parts pages show with and without memory. It is rediculous that a mirror costs $500 for one of these cars! My car has the memory functions for the mirror, seats etc. Only had to replace the seat mechanism once and 3 of the door lock actuators and of course the radio once.

Most of the car is fine, it is the little stuff that kills you on these cars along with the replacement costs for some of the cheapest parts like the lock mechanisms.

yeah i figured when you asked that you were trying to buy one.....A LOT of companies that sell these OE styled parts know nothing about the cars which is why these listings are misrepresented all the time. all 2nd gen GS's have memory....

why dont you try members: aliga, Chin, or RGW LLC they are all parts recyclers and vendors on here and would probably be able to get one for you.....for much much cheaper.....or try looking in the classifieds yourself

i can tell you from experience the 98-00 model and the 2001+ models use a slightly different mirror (internally that is) so shop accordingly.....the housings will swap but when you plug them up, they dont function completely correctly and i lost my OEM defrost when i did this.....eventually i will replace the housing to the correct mirror but ATM everything is fine with me
