I'm in the process of making a custom exhaust and I ran into a wall. Originally I was going to do an x-pipe but I have heard that I will see better power gains with a y-pipe (like the stock ones on our cars) or an H-pipe. My question is which exhaust will complement my engine mods better.
My mods are:
Intake. (Planning on extending it to the bumper)
Apexi neo
The custom exhaust is going to start for after the cats all the way through. My three options are:
1. Keep it stock design with stock size piping just cleaner and no resonators.
2. 2" piping into an x pipe and 2.5" piping from there out.
3. 2" piping into an h pipe and 2.5" piping from there out.
I apreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

I would doubt you see any measurable gains worth worrying about on a stock 400 between the methods. You want to equalize the pressure waves and either is effective.
H pipes may sound a bit louder than an X, as the X pipe merges the flow a little smoother.
If your having some random exhaust shop do this for you I'd stick with the stock setup and just replace the resonators with a couple straight pipes, since there just gonna crush bend and booger weld some pipes under your car that isn't gonna improve anything performance wise. Unless your doing it yourself mandrel'd with 304 or taking it to a real racecar shop then it's likely a downgrade from stock.
Personally if you want it to sound alot better just remove the resonators or buy the top-speed rear y-pipe section. This makes the car sound much better even with stock mufflers still.
