Hey gs guys, i am the owner of two sc300's one dd stock plus tein coils and wheels. Other is a 1jz vvti project. However I have recently been researching a lot about 01+ gs400s and im preparing to sell my cars to get a 2gs. Love the slightly more luxurious, yet still sporty style, and the 1uz. Would you guys recommend buying a gs4 with 100-150k miles? Curious about longterm longevity. Plan to keep this car for at least a few years. Nothing more than average commutes. I have read nothing but good in my research but would like some personal opinions. Thanks your input/experiences are appreciated!

Toyota makes very reliable motors. My last GS had over 270k on it and still ran strong. Only reason i dont have it anymore is because it was side swiped. I bought another GS the day after because i was happy, not only with the luxury features they have, but also the reliability of the motors.

If you buy a 400 that's been maintained, 100K miles is nothing, bulletproof and strong. Would be a perfect car for you. I say look for the best one you can possibly afford.

Thanks man, im definately going to get the best condition 400 my budget will allow. In az so rust and what not isnt as big of an issue. I will be more concerned with how the vehicle was maintained. Good advice.

I have GS430.....got the car with 30k on it and I am at 110k now. Never had one problem with the motor.....I can't say the same for the front suspension.

Most reliable car I have owned to date.

Thats good to hear, if you dont mind me asking, what happened to your front suspension? And were you speaking about your stock gs suspension? I plan to upgrade to a good set of coilovers, and wheels. Just going to do wheels with a semi aggressive fitment nothing to crazy MAYBE a fender roll front and back but would prefer not to pull. Although thats somewhere down the line. Initially I will run whatever (most likely stock) suspension that comes with the gs i purchase.

Hmm i thought they came in both models, well either way, if i have to i will drop to 2000 if that indeed is the case. Thanks for the tip though, i will continue to read more, though that was some of my research, i read through a lot of the stickies. I havent posted much but have been reading up for some time now.

Didnt doubt you, but indeed you are correct! Gs430 having no e shift makes me slightly disheartened along with switching to electronic throttle instead of cable type, I like the throttle feel more than electrics slight "lag". I like the bump in displacement but i really was looking for a 1 uz so 2000 it is.

Welcome to the gs side,i was doing research on these 2GS since 2008,i always loved the look of them and was concerned about longevity as well and after browsing this forum daily i've learned that with the right maintenance these cars can last a really long time and there are alot of helpful members here..i just purchased mine(04 gs430 w 133k) from another member a few months ago and drove 18 hrs to pick it up,it was worth it.anyways hope my input helps you out.Good luck.
