Default My radio light went out

is this a very common thing? chances it's a bigger problem than just the head unit like a grounded out wire somewhere?

where should I start? thanks

Hey there...

Yes, very common. As far as I can gather, illumination is on the board. I took three radios apart, one that lit and two that don't. I couldn't pinpoint anything burnt on the boards though switching the faces did absolutely nothing. Which tells me it's something on the main board versus a ground issue or anything of that sort.

If I figure it out, I'll be sure to post it so those of us with unlit radios can make the proper fixes and see the light again for now, I'll be wiring in two LEDs in the face so it will light in the meantime.

sounds like a pain. are factory replacements that hard to come by or expensive?

I was afraid of that. Well I might just start looking at aftermarket units. I'm open to suggestions.
