Default Seat Heater

With the weather turning colder I'm using the seat heater every day. Unfortunately it doesn't perform as good as other cars I have owned or been in. I had a Pontiac with a hi and low setting and when I had it set to HI they got almost HOT. Anyone else feel the same way about the seets in our GS's? Could something be wrong with mine?

I found the same problem in my IS, my 2000 silverado also had a hi/lo setting and it got HOT on the hi setting as you describe. It seems my IS seats take alot longer to warm up too.

I totally agree. My Jeep Grand Cherokee has heated seats with high and low settings and they are much nicer than the seats in my GS. I was going to ask the dealer about this next week when I am there but I guess it is normal. My Jeeps seats get so hot I have to turn them off after 30mins or so, I like that !!!!!

Are there any mods for the seat heater out there? Not only was it good on cold days but without you coat, it was like a hot pack on you back. Crank the AC up and the seat heater to hi and all the stress / tension from a hard day were gone.

I think everyones GS has crappy heated seats... They really stink compared to all my other cars.. Even my RX has better heated seats... My suggestion is to get a heating pad, plug it into the socket inside the armrest and your set......

My friends have a '99 RX and a '01 IS. I had to turn off RX heaters after only a few minutes because they got too hot for my taste. IS, on the other hand, today took almost 5 mins before I noticed that the seat is actually warm. But at that point it didn't matter anymore since my body heat already warmed the fabric seats of the IS enough.

Maybe you could kill two birds with one stone...

buy a cup of scorching hot coffee from McDonalds...spill on your lap...really heat up your seat...and make a million in the process as well...

Let me know how that works out for you.

This is my first car with a seat heater, so I don't have anything to compare to.

But, my new GS3 seems to have fine seat heaters. They are a bit slow, but get to just about the right temp and stay there. Sometimes I turn them off after ten minutes, sometimes leave them on for an hour drive.

yeah, I've noticed mine are pretty weak too. But it's still strong enough to make the chicks go "ooooh, my butt's getting warm." I just smile...

damn.. i miss that feature.. i had it on my ls400.. it was sweeet.. now when i got my gs it didn't come w/ that feature damn i miss it so much.. i wish if there was a way to fix it.. besides to go to dealership and spend thousands of dollars to install new one.. which makes no sense.. i heard that all cars are wired w/ heated seats not all of them have buttons to turn 'em on or off.. i wonder if that's the case then i can just get those buttons and have heated seats for winter.. when i used to drive my ls.. i didn't even turn on heat.. very very rearly.. i used heated seats a lot though.. does anyone knows anythin about it?

Alexus, I believe your right.... Why don't you check it out?? If I didn't have the option I'd definetly takeout the drivers seat and take a peek....
