So my Lexus key just recently ran out of battery, im asuming, and the unlock, lock, panic, and trunk wont work so i have to unlock everything manually and its just a drag for me because where i live its always raining and bad weather. And i dont want to go to the dealer because to replace the key costs like $300 and im only 16. But my cousin who has the same car as i do told me that you can find a battery anywhere in your local store and just replace it yourself. I would like to know if anyone knows what kind of battery it is or if theres a better way to fix the key. thank you.

1:Take a small Philips head screw driver an take apart the plastic housing
2: open it up and locate the 3 button programmer inside
3: take the 2 small screws out of the back of the programmer, theirs your flat battery that needs replaced, you can buy it at wal mart or radio shack or anywhere else... Replace and done
Why in the world would u have to go to the dealer for a new key? Also search next time their is multiples on this, it's a common sense fix, u could of even googled it instead of making a new thread and an account...

This forum is like an encyclopedia for Lexus,at least for me,i don't think there is a fix or helpful info about your car that haven't been discussed here yet.
