This is where I put my scan gauge. My lighter socket has been relocated

The "4 holes on the side" are from the original cell phone it came with

Now I am not sure what those screws are for. I thought it was for the factory cell phone but when I bought the car that's how it was.

Better to sacrifice passenger knee-room than driver knee-room.

Are you mocking me or are you saying you have the same screws?

My scan gauge is in my phone. I use the "Torque" app for Android along with a wireless (USB) OBD-II dongle that is powered over the OBD-II.

In my Miata the previous owner put a "Push Start" button in the OEM cigarette lighter location. So I relocated my lighter to the glove box along with my wideband O2 gauge - which is really only useful during tuning. I think a solution like this for your cigarette lighter relocation would be a lot cleaner.

Lol thats a spambot. They always make me laugh.
And mk2, that looks clean, and would be a cleaner location for a lighter socket, but why not have it in a more reasonable location? Why have to open the glove box to charge something/use the socket?

Well, as nice as this Miata is....it's not exactly a luxury vehicle. The glovebox fits in such a way that a wire can pass through the opening even when it's shut. So I am able to plug something in and shut the glove box and have whatever is plugged in (99% of the time it's my phone) still sitting on the passenger seat next to me. That said - I drive this car so rarely that the lighter socket is hardly ever used. So this is a perfect solution for this car.

In a car like my GS - where I plug the phone in every day - I would probably opt for something a bit more accessible - but still cleaner than just having it poking out between the carpet and center console plastic.

I pulled it out for the video, and it has a USB adapter. It is imperceptible and easy to access. By the way I have a 92 miata. They are fun to drive

Right on. Whatever works! If it's normally tucked in and not poking out, that's pretty clean.

Are you on CR.net or any of the other Roadster forums? I spend most of my forum time over there but have been here more lately as I have been thinking of doing more with the GS now that Rooster is pretty well sorted.
