Who said I like the 2nd gen better than the 1st...I like most things about the 1st...(the bodyshape, tailights, etc)but I just wanted somethin different....the reason i'm doing this is not to because i want a 2nd gen and can't afford it but rather because I want a diff looking 1st gen which in my opinion is a finer car than the 2nd gen gs...besides...my cousin owns a body shop...I will get it done for close to nothing!

Those lights look crap on that car Please don't make that mod! You should just get a body kit!

You got to be kidding me. No disrespect to a 1st. Gen driver but I think most will agree with me when I say Lexus models keep getting better and better.

In my opinion, I think that picture looks good. I do however agree that Lexus gets better as the years go on. I oringally had 97' GS and loved it but now I have a 99' GS 400 and I love it even more.

You should read the thread more carefully, philly. You'll realize that alex is only contemplating doing this mod and that this picture is photoshopped.
I think it looks unique. Were you also planning on using 2nd gen fogs? Cuz that's one more possibility where my stolen ones would end up . LD1s are nice, but have you seen the TT6s? Here's a pic for you.

Compared to the second gen, the first-gen car is sleeker and prettier, IMO.
I'm sure the enhancements to the second-gen car make it better technically, but I find the second-gen styling too tall and slab-sided- frankly, it hasn't withstood the test of time as well as the first-gen due to it's boy-racer looks, short front overhang and decklid, extra taillights, and overall "busyness."
I will always prefer the first-gen cars (in terms of looks): all they need to be truly beautiful is wheels/tires & springs.
I would leave it alone and spend the time & money on a turbo... or some nice wheels.
