Default Opinions on going to black pearl/chrome wheels on my GS4 (photochop included)

Just put on these 18" Boss 318's. For the record, in general, I hate chrome on my vehicles. Just not my look. Long story behind these wheels, but I got a great deal on them and I needed to replace my shot 16" tires on my old chrome wheels, so for the same price I got wheels and tires.

Okay, so here's the deal. I own a side business that sells wheel paint kits to enthusiasts. Yes, I know everyone has an opinion about painting wheels; some good, some bad. I am not here to argue with you on that. I would simply like to know your opinion on making these wheels black chrome/pearl instead of strait up chrome.

Thoughts? Thank you in advance!

Thanks guys. I will also photochop some tint, which should help the look. I'll add to this thread when I'm done.

Why don't you paint them gunmetal or silver.

Personally, i think the 1st pic is the cleanest. I know you said you hate chrome but might be the best look.

The 1st pic flows with the car best. Although painting them a color not as dark as your choices will also look good, like hyper black or gun metal. Good luck.

I honestly think you should sell or trade them for OEM 17" wheels. That, IMO, would be the best look.

Just sell the wheels or get rid of them. They are not worth the paint. Boss is pretty much the cheapest of the low budget wheels.

First I have heard that Boss was the "cheapest of the low budget wheels." If you're referring to price, then you might want to check again on that. These go for $1300-$1500 new in this size. If that's cheap these days than I am an old man. If you're referring to build quality give me some links or something; anything.

1300-1500 for a new set of wheels i think is pretty cheap for a new set of wheels but way overpriced for Boss. You can get 'em for under $800 a set new

I work in a wheel and tire shop. and when people come in looking for the least expensive brand I always show Eagle/MSR/Boss (all same company) because they are my cheapest supplier. But he quality and finish of their paint and chrome I would say is sub-par. Many complaints I've had with Eagle/Boss wheels is that the pain is not even or blemishes such as air bubbles and don't get me started on the chrome peeling off.

You live in WA so you get the occasional snow now and then which means they probably salt the roads or use a calcium base which corrodes chromes very easily. I also advise painting over chrome as nothing sticks to chrome. That would definitely flake off over time. As for built strength quality its pretty much the same as most cast 1 piece wheels.
