Default Dealership diagnostic check came back with calibration codes

Engine and ECT calibration update 33051000-yes and 53028000 -no

Anybody have any idea of what these do or if they ar work updating? Dealership said they can do it for me for like $200, wasn't sure what it did and figured I'd get real answers here rather than the stealership. Hahaha

So any ideas or ways to find out what those calibration updates mean?

Sounds like they are talking about flash updates to the ECU. This is usually done with a J2534 Pass Thru capable tool like the Toyota (TIS) Techstream or Snap-on PassThru Pro II.

Why was the car being diagnosed?

Was in because my mpg went down by 12.3% all of the sudden and hasn't come back up yet. It's been down for almost 4 months now

The engine ECU calibration appears to be based on TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) EG002-04, issued on 02/27/04. Lexus upgraded the ECU programming. The old calibration ID was 33051000, new one is 33051100. The primary issue listed on this TSB is P0133/P0153 being on - did you have a check engine light on?

Also this was originally covered under warranty for 96mo/80k miles.

I could not find a TSB or other info on the ECT Calibration update but it is probably a similar scenario.

Fix what - what is the issue? If you have Diagnostic Trouble Codes indicating a problem what are they?

Clean the MAF.
Clean the Throttle Body.
Replace spark plugs.
Get a fuel system cleaning or run the cleaners yourself.
Check tire pressures.

Did I miss anything guys?
