Default New guy, GS400.

Hey ClubLexus.

My name's Moncef I just picked up a '98 GS400. Super clean, totally stock. Just put some HIDs in it this past weekend. It's going to be my daily driver so I am planning on getting the ball joints done and doing coils/wheels/diff and SRT intake.

Parked next to my Maxima (high compression/cammed VQ35...sprayed.)

I am researching what type of LSD I can bolt up to the GS4 to my understanding I will need an Aristo pumpkin? What other pumpkins are available and compatible with these cars?

Thanks for looking.

Very nice, surprised that it didn't have oem HIDs since it is a 400. Also i'd keep the gld emblems, everyone says remove them, but on black i still think its still pretty classy looking.

Thanks. Yeah the gold emblems are ok with me. I still need to put HIDs in the foglights, I will be going 3000K for those.

Welcome. New guy here too. I got my 400 a few weeks ago. I went from a 94 Accord EX 5-speed to twice the HP and TQ. So every time I drive this thing I get a smile on my face. Of course since you have a VQ35, you already know about torque. I used to have a 92 Maxima SE and aside from the dang exhaust studs and clicking VTCs, that thing was a lot of fun.

Anyway, welcome from one new guy to the next.

Year to Year Changes

1999 Lexus GS: Addition of standard Daytime Running Lights was the sole change for 1999.
2000 Lexus GS: A standard Brake Assist feature went into both models for 2000, as part of the Vehicle Stability Control system. It automatically provided full hydraulic power in response to quick, strong brake-pedal movement. Child-seat anchors were added to the rear parcel shelf.
2001 Lexus GS: Subtle styling revisions and a larger V8 engine mark a mild freshening of Lexus midline model. The GS 400 becomes the 430 as a 4.3-liter V8 replaced the 4.0-liter unit. All models get side curtain airbags, wood interior trim, and an electronic compass. New audio and navigation systems and high-intensity-discharge headlamps are optional.
2002 Lexus GS: For 2002, the navigation system got revisions including multiroute calculation, simplified graphics, and route preview, along with a faster computer and the ability to play DVD movies on its dashboard screen.
2003 Lexus GS: Lexus' midrange sedan gets only minor trim and equipment changes.
2004 Lexus GS: The GS 300/430 received no major changes in 2004.
2005 Lexus GS: Lexus' midrange sedans are little-changed for 2005. New-design '06 models are expected by summer '05.

Based on this HID's didn't become an option on the GS til 2001 so that could explain that or it could be wrong, lol. In any case that's a nice clean GS. I had to add HID's to my 99 GS300 also, which I prefer even though I don't get the auto leveling feature I get to pick what intensity that I want to run. I'm running 8000k, I think OEM Lexus HID's are 5000k

Yeah I feel that. I had a '92 Accord as my beater car while I was doing the VQ35 swap into my Maxima. (I built a cammed VQ30DE for that before).

The GS is awesome, surprisingly quick and e-shift isn't too bad.

HID's were an option on 1998-2000 GS400's. They became standard on 2001+ GS430's.
