Noise under the hood
Hello everyone, Im new to the Club Lexus world.
I just got a 01 gs300 a few weeks ago and its a little "too noisy" under the hood. I searched on this forum and found a few threads that helped me out. On one of them it said to take off the serpentine belt then start the car to listen for the noises. So I did that and the noise did go away.
So my question now is which of the components do you think it would most likely be causing the nosie? I totally forgot to turn the pulleys by hand but I will check again as soon as I get more time. I just wanted to see what the usual part is that everyone else has had to replace.

Water pumps make a lot of racket on their way out.
Alternators make a ton of noise when the bearings fail.
Pulleys make a ton of noise when they are on their way out.
Hook it all back up, take a 4-5 foot section of old hose, put on end to your ear and put the other near pulleys and components. You'll be able to tell which one is making the most noise when you get near it and the volume of the racket increases.
