Has anyone re-done this to their calipers that have already been painted? My painted calipers are okay looking but have some chips in the paint after mounting and unmounting of my wheels and the effects from the elements. What's the best method of removing the old paint?

Were your calipers a little rusty? Mine have some fine surface rust on them. Do i need to rust convert first?.

What grit would you use? like a 1000 working onto a 2000 then a, b, c ?

I sanded mine but u dont need to seal them mine look brand new and i daily my car through every. Harsh condition, and if u seal them with clear coat u cant change color decals, and its gonna be an extreme pita to get that off when u switch caliper colors

Yea mine were black i sprayed with brake cleaner then sanded the paint right off, cleaned em then used g2 red, they look amazing through winter and all......

I'm sorry I can't remember what I used. Look at the many DIY on this site that has it listed. Flocko, you used the g2 plaint that already has clear in it so that's different. I still stand by my initial statement when using regular spray paint. I wasn't worried about changing the decal colors. White on red calipers look great

Clearing them with hi temp clear coat will allow the brake dust and road debris not to etch the paint finish.

Absolutely. I just did mine a few months ago, I used sandpaper, then a wire brush. Then Rust oleum rust converter. Then two coats of high-temperature caliper paint. Then a chrome decal, and then high-temperature clearcoat. Came out looking excellent.

Ahh I'm sorry. yes with spray u def have to clear them.. I put black decals on mine, black car, black leather, they look great....

I love the painted caliper look, but you can't really see mine due to the Work Eurolines anyway... =P

You must have the full faced Eurolines. I still think its good that you had them painted though.

Wow looks good man. Where did you get those decals? Also does anyone know if it would work well if you used the lexus decal to cover up the first color (say red) while you spray on the top color.(say black) so when you took off the decal the "lexus" would be in red and the rest of the caliper black. idk if this is an advantage or not but im just wondering if someone has tried doing it this way.
