60K Service
HELP
Since I purchased my GS4 from a Honda dealer, I have no clue when I need to get my car serviced, other than oil changes. I'm almost at 60K and have no idea when the last service was done. Is there any way to check or find out what the scheduled service markers are??
Any input would be awesome!
THANKS

Any Lexus dealer can run your VIN thru their service computer and get complete history of all service performed at any Lexus dealer, anywhere. This won't help if previous owners have DIY'd or Jiffy Lube'd, however.
Generally, service intervals are every 5k miles, with larger services at 15k, 30k and esp 60k............your 60k service will be major, probably more than $1k. The dealer can order an owner's manual and owner's manual supplement for you (the supplement contains the Lexus rec'd services and their intervals - I suggest that you ask the dealer to do ONLY Lexus factory rec'd service; dealers are becoming notorious for rec'd a lot of extra stuff that is NOT mentioned in the manual).
That should get you started........and welcome to the fold!!

I finally rec'd the manual and that will have what needs to be done?
What is typically done at 60?
I've learned the hard way once before. I had a 300ZX and brought it to the dealer for the 50k service and got taken for huge chunk when I'm sure I didn't need to.
I just want to make sure I do what really needs to get done when it's needed.
I need to find a decent dealer that won't try to totally screw me since I didn't buy if from a Lex dealer.
I don't know if they would help me with prior info either.
I guess I'll just have to contact a bunch until I find one who really wants to help.
Thanks a mil for your help.

Do a search on the site, this has been discussed many times before. Anyway, the 60k is not that major, lots of inspections and new plugs. I had my local indie to it for $250, vs $1K at the dealer.

Hello,
Spark Plugs and Timing Belt are at 90,000 miles on the GS4.
60K is more of the same things done at 30,000...engine oil, transmission fluid change, coolant (antifreeze change) and tons of INSPECTIONS..(some of which you can do without.)
Should not cost you $1K. You have to look around. Call local Lexus dealers and compare prices...you will be suprised at the differences in prices.
Good Luck in your quest!

I agree, it should not cost $1000, but in a state like NJ where there are only a few dealers, there seems to be little competition and the price is generally higher. It's the maintenance cost that is the only reason in the world I would want to move to california.

I believe the 60k at Serramonte Lexus is close to 1k for GS3(9 something). I don't know what it is for a GS4.
I need some warranty work so it's going back for it's 30k service in a couple of k miles.
