Gonna have to disagree with you on that first part. Not everyone is into modding to gain hp. For example I'm more of an aesthetics person (however I have been adding some bolt on)

I know that nowhere anytime soon I'll get the money back that I put into my car if I were to sell it. I've put too much time and money into it which is why I have no plans in selling. I have no desire to mod another car the way I've done to my GS. Besides the money put into it, I still feel good driving in it and confident that it will hold up (mechanically) for many years to come. There people here who have well over 200K miles and say that their car is holding up well. My nephew has a '96 LS approaching 300K and says it still drives like a champ.

Truthfully I don't feel sad at all for reasons I just stated and because I have NO plans in selling. Maybe that sad feeling comes when you do want to sell it.
I agree.. I love my GS..and dont plan on getting rid of it cause of a bunch of rotten apples or in this case Mad Rice..

I agree..It will only get worse..and one of the main problems is people are afraid to speak their mind and keep feeding the Trolism/the Rice effect/the i wear my pants down my ***..
Its funny how many people post pics of their cars and everyone loves the look even though it may need a paint job, or new headlights......Its MINT in everyone eyes..
This new breed wont spend $$ on a good used MC, or door actuators, or suspension maintanace...but will spend $$$ on a $1k GRILL.

Not all about power but Personality. Your car reflects your individuality. Be warned that the 2J swapped gs and other vehicles has become the next ricer thing to do.. dont get me wrong the 2J is a thing of beauty but has become too common.. I see swapped 2Js left and right on cars that are half ***/falling apart at the seams..AKA mint.

reminds me of why i got rid of the supra, the younger crowd always on the Sac.. Im glad i did.. I tend to stay away from meets, just hang with a few that know me..there is still some of us tru enthusiast..whether you drive a civic or a lambo..the appreciation for the car driven is there..
Han said it best.. " I have money, it's trust and character I need around me"

Look these fools making threads asking what color to paint their wheels.. if they had Huge ones they would say F da world and paint them Pink!! with a huge Bauss smile when rolling... NO PERMISSION NEEDED..

Well i dont dont know about the 2jz swap being the new ricer thing to do because the ones that are popping up left and right are the same ones that are doing them in their garage cutting corners and turning around 2 weeks later trying to sell it. I've been on my swap since 09 and at that time not alot of people did it. If you had a supra and got rid of it hope you made your money because in florida they are holding on to them as well as the 3rd gen rx7 and the acura nsx, if its done right people will appreciate but hey if people feel their 2gs is the new honda then they should sell their Sheit and get something else and stop crying and keep it moving.

THANK YOU! I already have a powerful car, the GS was for the class of it... (which it really doesnt have anymore)

Couldnt have said it any better. I know EXACTLY what you're talking about! I feel bad with the pos's that people by and are surrounded with compliments and support. Pass by riceland and all you'll see are beat up pieces of FECES with brand new wheels and wall paper all over the cars because they focus their excitement of the "under-construction" part of a car project (which is fun) but ALWAYS hits a dead end there. Been in the group (because they are very nice people) EVERY week you hear the conversations saying, "Yea man, I'm gonna do this and hell yea that and this, oh yea hell yea gonna do that!" while all the other friends them with oohs and aahs, then the following week its a total new project (in thought not reality) Its a group of dreams for the low self esteem. Funny how noone ever calls them out. Oooo oooo, even better, how they swap wheels with each other all the time and tell each other how they got new wheels LoL eventually they make it back to the original owner. Ok, got off subject here lol

I predict that in at least 5 years, you will begin seeing the GS grouped in parking lots in salvaged conditions with fart cans up the *** (literally) or exhaust cut off before the catalytic. The first group I see like this, my GS is gone... (probably before that) eff it... Time for a new car, I'm done with this.

I totally agree with ya, i may not have stated my point properly..so let me rephrase my point with your words..

" the ones that are popping up left and right are the same ones that are doing them in their garage cutting corners and turning around 2 weeks later trying to sell it."

And this my friend is rice.......worst than this is the ones that buy a gs because it has a 2J and have illusions of Going F&F 2jz-gte with parts from japan at Harry's..but sell it cause they are hit with the reality that they now need to put 5k and up to begin to do a proper swap or NA-T on a car that they got for the same amount they are going to spend to mod..

LOL you know thats a low blow because i know who you are referencing lmao. If Faith had twins she probably would have TWO pacs, get it TWO pacs. But enough qouting biggie like i said if people feel that way just get rid of your car its as easy as that. Every car is becoming accesible i see wannabes in 03-05 bmw 740i and 745's those were 80-90k cars and i see people getting them for 10k, same with the older m3's, same with the 540's and audi's and half of them garbage. You cant escape it cars get cheaper and its all on who owns the car.

Rarity is only a benefit when combined with desirability. There's nothing particularly desirable about an '00 GS4 (or any 2GS) in the grand scheme of things. They may be slightly more desirable to enthusiasts. But even then, the number of enthusiasts isn't great enough to influence the general public's perception. And the demand of the general public is what determines a car's value.

There are many limited-run versions and special edition models of cars out there that aren't necessarily more valuable than a similarly equipped standard model of the same car. Where it becomes a big deal is when the car, in general, is something particularly special. This makes the limited edition all the more valuable.

If i could get an nsx i would get one and call it a day because for some damn reason thats one of the only 80k priced cars from way back that still is expensive and hard to get.

Well damn lol

I personally wouldnt expect my 15 yr old car to be worth much anyways. Yeah i was one of the folks asking about opinions on painting my rims and in the end still went with what i wanted. Yeah i spent money on two different grills. Yeah i spent money on all the other stuff that i didnt need and sure people do compliment some of the threads... But i also spend the money to keep it running cherry and Often more money than most people think i should have. I dont think i've spent cheap on anything so far and obviously i haven't dropped $10k+ like others But i never went in expecting to even possibly break even if i sold.

To be completely honest... I had all intentions on keeping it stock when i got it... Then i found ClubLexus. Im not complaining just saying it is the biggest reason why i started changing stuff and why I will continue.

U can take any make and model and someone will always mod it in a cheaper way... Product or price. There will always be the pure oem everything person... And there will always be the person who does only best of the best if they do it at all.

At the end of the day we drive a reliable toyota that once cost a lot... For my car that was 15 yrs ago when I was cutting class to throw pool parties in high school.

We aren't driving exotics, though the 2GS is one of the best cars built by Lexus in my opinion. Now, folks are buying these cars regardless of the age and mileage because they want to be driving a Lexus and they are selling for only $4k. I saw a 98 GS400 on sale the other day for $6k

for the heck of it, i search craigslist every once in a while for a gs400 and there are never any. aside of the same one at a dealership that i always see. but i change my search to gs300 and i get 4 pages of results. GS3's are more affordable and available. I am not worried about the KBB resale value. Nor do i worry about how much money i put into a car that you can never recoup if you sell it someday. Car's are one of my passions and i like making them "mine" custom and my style. If you are a car guy you most likely have the same expensive hobbies as i do
