Default Kind of Sad Acutally

Just checked KBB for fun today and our cars are really dropping in price!

Mine came out to 9.3k for a super low mileage, rare SD, not accounting for loads and loads of mods I've put onto the car (doesn't actually increase the price much). I personally can't believe a car built this well, still runs like new was originally valued at 40k+ is now barely 10k 10 years later!

Can't justify myself ever selling this car with how well and how good its treated me.

Guess its just time to throw rare parts on and wait till the parts demand is higher off to get "some" money back from modding

you can't use kbb to justify the value of these cars, these aren't your average cars.

I would 100% agree with you there, but the general population and craigslist, autotrader, etc. would seem to disagree

Cars are not an Investment, they don't hold their value, with the exception of a few.

Actually....yeah they are. Well, at least here in Dallas they are. I probably see a dozen of them every day. They're more common than Honda Accords. (Ok...that's probably an exaggeration...but it's not that far off)

There's nothing particularly special about the 2GS. That's not to take anything away from them. They are amazing cars. Reliable, luxurious, well-styled, great to drive. But they're not special. Not rare. Not at all unique in any particular way.

To be honest...at the age our cars are getting, the luxury factor almost starts to count against them in terms of resale value. Buyers see a 10 year old car with 100k+ miles that has a lot of bells and whistles as "a lot that can go wrong".

That said...they still hold their value better than a similar vintage Mercedes or BMW. Simply because the Lex is perceived as more reliable.

I had a 2003 C32 AMG. It was a rocket of a car and carried a sticker price over $50k when new. It didn't have navi but I think that's the only option it lacked. I bought it for $31k in 2005 and just 2 years later was completely unable to sell it on. I couldn't find a buyer for it for anything over $20k. CarMax offered me $21 but I thought that was a ripoff. I ended up sitting on it for a year and eventually trading it in in December 2007 for $17k. Talk about depreciation!!!

I don't think the newest GS owners who have popped up on the site are feeling sad. As **** stated, the car is not an investment and it has lost substantial value. As popular as the 2nd Gen GS is or has been, I wonder sometimes if it'll be worth a whole lot more decades down the road. Who knows.

I know that nowhere anytime soon I'll get the money back that I put into my car if I were to sell it. I've put too much time and money into it which is why I have no plans in selling. I have no desire to mod another car the way I've done to my GS. Besides the money put into it, I still feel good driving in it and confident that it will hold up (mechanically) for many years to come. There people here who have well over 200K miles and say that their car is holding up well. My nephew has a '96 LS approaching 300K and says it still drives like a champ.

Truthfully I don't feel sad at all for reasons I just stated and because I have NO plans in selling. Maybe that sad feeling comes when you do want to sell it.

I knew the value dropped as soon as I saw the type of "modding" being done now As well as the "I cant afford to fix" threads that have been coming out and where can I by this "replica" or does [this part] off a 93 GS fit the 2gs.

LMAO well too bad for them, I don't consider the 2gs a honda in no shape or form but then again my gs has a swap and is single turbo and people with newer cars dont look down on my ride they give me thumbs up. Now If your gs is stock slammed to the ground and thats all you got then yea its the new honda to some people, but if your car has some type of power your 2gs is put in another class plain and simple. If you buy cars to keep up with the Joneses then dont mod them, but dont compare the car to a honda because if thats the case the magnum is the old wannabee dopeboy car and the charger is the new dopeboy car. The lambo gallardo is the new entry fake baller lamb and aventador is the real baller lamb. And on and on and on

I would venture to say that the 00 gs4 is fairly rare, it seems like I read somewhere before I bought mine that not many sold that year.
