Default Thinking of going with IS wheels, any advice on tires?

Im looking to trade a guy locally my 16 inch wheels for his 17s off an IS300, Im a little concerned about 2 things.

1. will the 7 inch width be super noticeable? I know the rear already looks a little sunk in, will this only get a lot worse?
2. what tire size should I go with to avoid any speedo issues and not have to worry about that brake failure that tire rack is preaching about?

OEM tire size on the 17x7 IS300 rims came with 215/45 17" and has a 50 offset which is the same as the GS. You can go as wide as 225/45 on the 7" which is 1" or 10mm diff from the OEM 235/45 size of the GS.

Yes, It will look worse, because they are the same offset, half of the difference in the width of the wheel sunken in more...

You can fit 235/45-17 on the IS300 wheels, it is technically too wide, but easily doable and no ill effects, I have 235/45-17 all around on my IS300 and stock wheels... This is the same as the 17" GS's run, so Speedo and everything should be pretty close...
