I need to take my 99 gs300 to have it first oil change since i bought it. It has been serviced at the dealer and the records are in the dealers computer. I dont have time to take it to the dealer, its too far away and want to charge $65 for an oil change. Im planning on taking it to a toyota dealer if they will service it or a oil change place in the area. Does lexus use synthetic oil when they do oil changes? I dont want to be putting it regular if its been getting synthetic.
Thanks,
John

Damn for 65 bucks it better be synthetic, my local Lex dealer charges 50+ bucks, too damn much for my blood. I get my oil changed believe or not at an Acura dealer hehe, for almost half that price, they provide me with real good service and nobody can get my car to shine like they do.

LexGS3,
No the dealers do not use synthetic.
If you want to have synthetic you need to ask
them in advance.
Also when you change the oil, you want to make
sure that they use a V-8 oil filter. It's better in
my opinion, it's made in Japan by Denso and has
more of filtrating area. And it will fit your 6 cylinder.
Just my 02.

It does not use Synthetic. I was surprised cause the mileage in between changes are 5000 miles. I know 4 cylinder honda cars can't even do that. I do my own changes, and was SURPRISED when it took in so many quarts...For a 4.0L, my 5.7L Z28 on took 5 qts... Change your own oil, it is more fun that way, and cheaper.
I hate it when you bring your car into dealers for that stuff, and they come back and tell you you need a brake job. I ASKED FOR A OIL CHANGE, NOT AN ALL OUT INSPECTION ON WHAT YOU THINK NEEDS DONE TO THE CAR! I had mine serviced for a replacement of the stereo cause it was getting interfered by my cell phone. They called me and said I needed new rear brake pads badly...That was 6000 miles ago, and my brakes are fine!
I do my own brakes too...Has anyone heard of the new Ceramic type brake pads...anyone have any experience with it?
