Default rear bulb out dummy light on but all of them work + rewire 3rd brake light dificulty?

Two questions... I picked up a 99 gs4 a month ago and keep going over it working out all the little things before I put her on the road. I've noticed it has the rear light bulb dummy light on and all of my running lights and brake lights function perfectly?? The only thing I can think of is it has the 3rd brake light in the rear window AND has a spoiler that has the led brake light that doesn't come on... could this be why?? Also, how hard is it to wire up the factory style rear spoiler 3rd brake light and disconnect the original one in the back window?

*fixed* DIY: Black tape over the dummy light and I wired a toggle switch to my 3rd brake light so I just flip the switch whenever I apply the brakes, problem solved!

are you serious? flipping a toggle switch every time you hit the brakes = problem solved?

dummy light is your lamp out module signal. Its saying that one of your many bulbs are out. Since your 3rd brake light is out, hence you are getting the signal.

Any reason the 3rd brake light is out? Check the connectors. Rather than installing a toggle switch....just wire up the 3rd brake light to a brake light bulb of the tail light from within the trunk.

Also the 3rd brake light has multiple bulbs inside. I think 3 or 4. If any one of them are out, you will get the dash light.

Beat me to it:

The third brake light has 4 bulbs in the housing. If one of them lights is out or going out it was trigger the "dummy light" on the dash. Replace the bulbs and problem should be fixed.

I really wasn't serious about the toggle switch, but I am confused on how to get around the dummy light coming on in the future if I unhook the 3rd brake light in the rear window and wire up the led 3rd brake light on the wing(which isn't working), and I REALLY don't want them both on at the same time and have a 4th brake light !
