so after doing some research, now i know what they meant J.

although the IS was introduced in 1998 it didnt come with the 2JZ originally. the first gen had a remodel in 2000 where they started putting the 2JZ-GE in them where as they originally came with a 2.0-liter 1G-FE inline-six and a optional 2.0-liter 3S-GE inline-four (although these were still first gen IS300'S as the second gen is300 didnt come out till 2005)

Custom? In what way? You can get a used replacement cover from ebay pretty easily.

quick question I have a 99 and my buddy took his engine cover off how would I go about mounting it without the four bolts sticking out the motor?
