Holly Crap! I bet that thing runs! Have you had it to a track yet?

Question, do you leave the cover off the timing belt like that? I would be nervous that something would fall down in there and make it jump.

Did you piece the 3.4L together or use an off the shelf kit? Interested in doing this too.

Put a couple parts on I've had kicking around for a while:

I spent over $3000 on my car to make it perfect about 2 weeks ago, (rear springs, axle shafts, ball joints, front end parts, timing belt service, door actuators, etc etc) so it's drive worthy for my 16 year old daughter, and she totals it.

And the worst thing about it is, she doesn't even feel bad about it. (we have another vehicle she likes driving, it's our 'fun' Jeep Wrangler)

Well, that Jeep is going on Craigslist this week. I'm selling it. My daughter ain't getting crap to drive, and she can walk to school. It took a totaled car for me to realize, I've spoiled my family beyond help.

I'm done with this crap. I'm sure some of you out there understands where I come from. I'm done being an ATM. DONE!

That bites. My GS just rolled over 296k miles. It still runs awesome, but now I need to toss tires on this year on to my summer 17's and fix the actuators (I have them, just need some warm weather) and then deal with some rust.

Yours doesn't look that bad honestly. Unless somehow the unibody frame it tweaked that isn't too bad to fix.

Maybe one day she will appreciate what she had when she has to pay for it herself.

My 3 of 4 oldest kids want my GS, but not sure about them being in the lineup to get it. Maybe after 400k miles....

Man, I recently bought my 16 yr old son the exact same car, color and all. I've fixed all the little things on the car to make it really nice one. He just got his full license about 2 weeks ago and has been driving without me. I keep telling him that any slightest thing that happens to this car and insurance will total it in a heart beat. I also said that he probably won't have the money to get anything else as nice if they do but if he can keep anything from happening to it he will make it through college with the car. I really like the car. I still wouldn't trade my LS for it though. I hope his never comes home like that.

Sorry for your loss. Is that grey or black interior?
Did you have collision on it?

EDIT: I would take a GS over a Wrangler, any (dry, lol) day.

It's black interior, Navi, Mark L. sound, there wasn't a single option that was skipped on this car. Only 160k miles, the thing ran brand new, the leather looked and even smelled new, after all these years. (they don't make cars like this anymore)

Yes, I had collision on it, insurance is paying me 4600$, damage was estimated at 5300$. Frame was bent as you can see the rear wheel facing outward (and we all know that this car never had 4 wheel steering) Insurance is picking it up next week, if you guys wanna come by and pick out the 4 brand new door lock OEM Lexus actuators, some nice springs, front end parts, batt, rear axle shafts (although one of them might be bent now) , all brand new Lexus parts, come get them... lol.

I wonder what amount they would have taken off if you wanted to keep it? My 99 XLE V6 Camry was totalled in 2013. They gave me 4400 (Was not mint and had 168k on it) for it. They would only dropped 500 off it if I wanted to keep it with a salvage title.

Whatcha gonna get as the new DD? If my 430 gets killed, I may be looking for a GS/LS460.

I actually got a new (to me) DD 2 weeks ago. Don't laugh, 20k mile 2015 Civic Si. I drive tons of miles and I needed good gas milage yet something fun enough to keep me awake .. and I didn't trust the new ones with turbo)
