I swapped out my radiator today with the cheapest new unit I could find on Amazon. Bolt holes for the fan assembly didn't line up, OE cap didn't fit (but one from a 1996-2003 ES did), the hole for the temperature sensor was too small and had to be drilled out then the plastic shavings flushed, and the nuts holding in the trans cooler fittings were loose and I had to take the radiator back out to tighten them up since I was working from the top. I also discovered one of the radiator support bushings is missing and suspect it contributed to the failure of the OE radiator so I've ordered a new pair.
I also put on new Anco wiper blades while I was airing up the tires to drive it to the part store to find a radiator cap. I also had to replace the cigar lighter/power outlet fuse so I could use my tire inflator.
I'm also pleased to report that the previous owner was mistaken in suspecting the head gasket causing it to overheat as replacing the radiator and cap and filling it with ~50/50 mix resulted in it having hot heat, reaching operating temperature, and not overheating, putting coolant in the oil or vice-versa, bubbles in the coolant while cold, or sweet smelling exhaust.
Right now I'm sitting on the rest of my new parts and waiting for the valve cover gaskets, cam and crank seals, and VVT cam gear seal to arrive but I think I may go ahead and tear it apart enough to swap the spark plugs, wires, and coil boots tomorrow then leave it torn down while I wait for those parts before I start the timing belt replacement. May swap the hood release cable tomorrow, too.

Since the last post the car has received new valve cover gaskets, cam seals, plug wires, plugs, coil boots, coil primary wire connectors, timing belt, belt tensioner, hydraulic tension adjuster, harmonic balancer, VVTi cam gear was re-sealed, air and cabin air filter, OE driver side fog light assembly, radiator mounts, thermostat, all new tail and brake lights along with replacing several other burned out interior and exterior bulbs, and I cleaned the MAF and TB.
That was all done weeks ago since the car didn't have to be jacked up (did the tires on my break at work), and then yesterday I installed new quick struts in the rear. Front quick struts are next on the list along with swapping out the master window switch (works fine but one of the buttons isn't springy), replacing the trunk actuator, re-covering the driver seat bottom and center console lid, and eventually replacing the motors in all 4 door lock actuators since the only one that works is the DR door when you hit the unlock button.

Did a head gasket and new spark plugs. Got her running 100% for now. Also did the timing belt, re greased the idler bearing, valve cover gaskets, fixed a kinked emissions hose.
Got all the front end ball joints and bushings waiting to go in.
Had the hankering to paint the valve covers an obnoxious color
I gotta say we have a good group here. I've been on quite a few car forums and this is great especially considering how many people are here!!
Still needs a little cleaning up but its way better than it was. Got it for 1500 bucks
