What did you do to your GS today?

Since I had nothing else to do today, I decided to devote the day to working on the Lex.
Cleaned up the headlights
Did the fog light mod
Plastidipped my L emblem on the back
And put in my new clear side markers
I tightened my steering pretensioner too and wow am I amazed by how much of a difference it made in the steering.
And she got a nice wash and wax

Yes it is his mod. Very easy just follow his steps here: http://bananags.grantham-internation...GS_DIY/FOGMOD/
Trickiest part is tapping into the fog light switch (green wire with white line) which I just used a t-tap to tap into and it worked great. Oh and you don't have to rip apart the entire bottom half of the dash, you can just take off the steering column cover and go from there.

I haven't had time to get into mine, but PLEASE look for the fog light switch there is a GREEN-BLACK wire connecting pins 11 to 18. You can cut it or simply take pin 11 or 18 and ground it (they are shorted anyway), this is the return to the relay that is interrupted when the high beams are turned on.
Take a look and see if you see it. bananags's is bypassing what I highly suspect Lexus had it connected up for non US applications.
If I get some time over the weekend maybe I will get into mind and try it. I can safeguard it for overcurrent easily.
Basically what Lexus does is the ground for the relay that powers the fog lights goes through the switch, so when the low beams are on, the relay is allowed to be grounded. If the high beams or headlights are off, then the relay is not allowed.
The only side effect I can see if this is it is POSSIBLE the fog lights might be able to be left on with the car off or headlights not on. Not a big deal and I would very much like my fog lights to work with the headlights off (parking lights ON). Much safer in bad snow and fog!

I know exactly what you're talking about. Not sure if it's worth it for me because I hardly get to use my high beams anyways. The funny thing is if you don't pull back fully on the stalk you can get the high beams and fogs to stay on until you hear a click then the fogs will turn off.
I've read somewhere that it's against the law to have your fogs and high beams on at the same time (don't know the truthfulness or validity of that statement but every car I have come across has this feature that disables the fogs when using the high beams).
Don't ask me why that would be an issue but I'm sure it's about as reasonable an argument as forcing DRLs to be standard.

It's only $42 and it comes a perfect color match and it's held on with 3M tape. You just send them your paint code and they send you one matched to your paint code. Had it on for almost a year now and no complaints whatsoever. It takes about two weeks to get here from Taiwan; only thing that's a bummer.

02SDGS, unbelievably I ended up getting 27.5 on my trip home for the holidays. My mom just got herself a new 2016 Camry and I'd rather cruise in the GS on the highway, it's amazing how well it rides.

I just came from a 10 hour, 600 mile trip a week ago. 5 hours, 300 miles doing 70 mph non stop going up, vise versa doing 80 mph coming back home. On a full tank both ways, I had about a quarter tank left. So I'm guessing, the 300 can do almost 400 miles, maybe 375 miles on full tank till empty on highway driving. First time driving that far and that long with it. It drinks lots of gas in the city, very impressed now with the highway range that I feel confident to travel long miles with it again. Next trip early upcoming year, Boston.
