overheated... for some reason, the fans didn't kick in when the coolant got above the 93°C(199°F) or whatever... all the relays are good, thermostat is working, no leaks

Proper method? After your done flushing the cooling system, added your coolant/anti freeze and distilled water or the 50/50 mix. Start the car with the radiator cap off, and let it run. Keep refilling the radiator since it will go down after the thermostat open up at normal operating temp. Once you see that the coolant is at the same level close cap and recheck after engine is cold.

You right on the way that the guy need to flush the system. I'm agree with you 100% on that. But he need to use a OEM coolant, pink color. The engine and all system work a 100% better. Sensor temperture, thermostat, ect... Is my opinion and I know that other members in this forus as well.

I know what you mean. When I said to use the coolant/antifreeze with distilled water I was talking about the OEM deep Red Toyota coolant/antifreeze. It's recommended by our manual. I bought and used 1 gallon of this from my local dealer: 1 Gallon Long Life Factory Red Coolant Antifreeze Genuine Lexus Toyota | eBay
With about 2 gallons of distilled water from Walmart. I did everything from timing, water pump, new own radiator, etc 3 years ago, works perfectly fine since then. But it really doesn't matter since it's all Toyota products anyways. I choose the non 50/50 because I wanted a little more water for better heat transfer.![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Remember the electric cooling fans do not engage until 212-F degrees. Possibly turn on the AC to see if they work at all. Unless this car has a fan clutch. Just as an addition the non Toyota mix-all coolant works too. I repair these cars daily and have had NO issues at all with the non OE coolants. For inquiring minds.

I've checked all the relays, wiring and temperature sensors to make sure the fans work and get switched on already and it all works so I'm not sure where was the fault... But I'm gonna change the pump, thermostat, radiator etc
