Default Summer and winter in CA, my GS

I could not drive on 17s during storms/rain anymore, car feels too insecure. The switching back to 16s brought some benefits and considerable fun/handling losses. I was ready to sell my 17s but after having funny feeling of instability turning on freeway at 65 mph, I immediately decided to keep 17 for summer. Let me know if you want to hear about experience of switching from 17 to 16.

I'm confused. Shouldn't a larger wheel give you more of a secure feeling then the wimpy 16's.

hmmm I just buy the best tires I can on my 18"s and run them, during summer I'll run 19"s

I've never had a problem, partly because I drive like a granny, other part is my tires are always new and with decent wet traction ratings

I would never go back to 16"s sidewall flex is scary

The recent rainstorms probably cause a lot of car owners of all makes to feel uneasy. What kind of tires are you running now? Maybe, a switch to an all season tire on your 17" rims might help you.

And besides, we don't get these Monsoons all the time.
