How Quiet is the 2nd gen GS?

You will not be impressed by the power the 300 presents. There are Honda Accords and Nissan Altima's that can zip by it with ease. I would strongly consider the 400/430. That is, if power is a necessity to you.

Does it have the Mark Levinson sound system? I know on the LS you can't even add it unless you also have the Nav, but I think I remember reading you could also get it sans-nav on the 2nd Gen GS (after they dropped Nakamichi in '00 that is).
That's always been something I've been wondering, because the only ones I've ever seen that have said Mark Levinson on the center console also had Nav.

Just get the 400/430. You won't regret it.. The 300 is a good car too, but if you like power you won't be happy with its setup. I would only own a 300 if I plan to Boost it. Otherwise, the V8's is highly recommended by most of us. LOL
Plus, 400/430 GS's is a rarer car than any of the other Lexies out there.

I drove mine for 2 1/2 years with blown struts , cut front springs, bad bushings and it drove so smooth with very little to no noise ..... you wouldn't even think suspension was that bad...

My wife and I picked up our GS400 after getting the summer tires back on (Michelin Pilot). As soon as I got above 70Kph my wife asked, "Why is this car so loud, is something wrong with it?" So, tires make a big difference.

Michelin Pilots are one of the worse for noise after a few thousand miles on them. I know use to have a set. But now I have the Bridgestones Potenza RE750 and RE760 Sport on both of my GS's and they're LS-like on the hwy.. Smooth yet sporty when you need them to be.. So Tire choice plays big difference in the GS cuz the GS's suspension setup is more aggressive than the LS's. Put just about any tire on a LS an it will be smooth because its setup is design for absolute comfort and quietness.
