hi, this is my first post since I might be a lexus owner tomorrow.
I won an auction on ebay and i'm flying to NC tomorrow to see the car before I complete the transaction. Here are the details:
1998 gs 300 w/nav 92k miles price $16,200
own owner
clean title
carfax looks ok
seller has only positive feedback
car is in great condition for the mileage..a few scratches and a small crease in back bumper ("hardly noticeable")
all books and service records included.
I called the local lexus dealership and they said car was serviced regularly up to 40k miles and then car stopped showing up at dealership for service until this past june. (used own mechanic last few years?)
In speaking with seller (independent dealership) I have no reason not to believe he is sincere and trustworthy.
I have scheduled an inspection at the local lexus dealership tomorrow before I agree to buy this vehicle.
I'm just looking for any advice on what questions I should be asking tomorrow to give me the best chances that I don't get bamboozled.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Test drive and see if there's vibration at the steering wheels.... there's been so much talk about vibration problems for 98-2000 models. In 2001+ models, Lexus resolved this issue (supposedly).
Other than that.... I would ask the seller for a current 4-wheel alignment check. I would also check the underbody for signs of a previous accident.
Hope it goes well.

See this thread for info on what to check:

I would also consider getting a "Pre-purchase Checkup" by the local Lexus dealer. This shouldn't take more than an hour or two.
