Default TRD front sway bar rubbing when slammed

I'm currently in the process of installing Air Force bags on my car. After installing the suspension portion and while running the lines, I decided to start up the car so the battery doesn't die. I heard an awful clunking squirreling noise from under the hood. I popped the hood and raced to open it and saw sparks flying from around where the sway bar sits. Anyone else have this problem? If so, what was the solution?

Also, does anyone know how to adjust the Ksport/D2/Air Force bag/strut height? I've had BC coilovers before, so I loosened the bottom perch, and proceeded to start turning the upper perch to the right to raise the struts, only to find out that this was twisting the bags.

You don't touch the upper perch when adjusting the height on coils. You only adjust that lower portion. The upper one is for preload.

There's only two perches, adjusting the lower perch only locks/unlocks the setting. I'm going to try to have the two perches meet in the middle to lock against each other and adjusting up/down that way, once I get home. Thanks for your input!

It means there were sparks from the vicinity of the sway bar... Last I checked, when the engine is on, pulleys spin in a rotation motion. But what do I know...

Gotcha. I'd still leave those upper rings alone just to be safe. That's my opinion.

Grab yourself a tape measure and measure it out!

Make sure you didn't install it upside down lol. The front TRD bar can go in either way! If you have it on the wrong way, it will touch the chassis.

Yeah, I had to uninstall the whole unit to twist the lower assembly down to adjust the height. Something I was trying to avoid.

Bingo!! I had no idea it was different for L and R. Time to flip it.

Chevy 350 miata drift car fire - YouTube
bwahahah, i like how after it catches on fire he trys and starts it again. his main issue was he took the fuel hose and let it drip over the car, eventually it flowed under the car and caught on fire.
what a retard

OP even the old threads i saw where people installed the TRD bar upside down they werent hitting the pulley. they def would hit the chassis but not even close to the pulley.

I'm thinking he will need to fix his abs sensor...probably cut the wires on it if he installed it upside down. I remember when I did mine, I kept checking to make sure before I even had the factory sway off.

I had this problem on my GS - the swaybar rotates as the suspension works and when its too low, the swaybar rotates right around and touches the back of the Harmonic Balancer.

I made up some adapter plates for the swaybar end links that make the swaybar sit at normal rideheight, so it doesn't hit the crank pulley.

Crappy MS Paint pic - hopefully you get the idea. The holes are also offset towards the middle of the car as the end links run at a crazy angle when they're low - this corrects that.

I've got a gs400 when slammed to the ground doesn't hit anything. Do you have a 300 or 400?

true he might have ripped them but they wouldnt constantly spark. they would spark and then short themselves way before he could get out of the car and open the hood. plus he didnt mention any dash lights which would be caused from this
