If you're talking to me. I have all Hertz Audio, I have a complete build thread. If you buy quality product (which NOone does anymore) it doesnt matter what size the woofer is, its going to sound GREAT! I had eight 15's in a civic and it was TIGHT bass! Because it was good sheits!

You can't route the cables through the side of the interior moulding or beneath it in order to attach the amp to the front or something? I'd prefer a good clean looking install as well but sometimes it's a sacrafice. I'd love to see some pics on how people mounted their amps in the trunk achieve a clean look with no wires exposed.

Made this for a good friend's car just yesterday.
Sheet of MDF @ Home Depot: $34
Wood Glue: $4
Silicone Sealant: $4
2 yards of Carpet: $25
Cup Terminals: $10
Total cost: (about) $80
JL Audio's Rec. airspace: .625 ft3 sealed
My box's airspace: .77 (w/ driver displacement calculated)
**you can always reduce airspace, but you can't increase it once it's built. And polyfil does not make it "appear" that much larger, so get the dimensions right the first time and you'll be set.

Now, the JL W3s are ok subwoofers, given the sealed enclosure and airspace it should sound pretty decent. We are not looking for massive bass production, but rather a nice blend into his current setup to accomplish a pleasing range of reproduction. Or else he'd have bought a W6s or better. (Don't ask why he likes JL Audio so much, because I don't know).
There was enough space on the top of the box to mount his amp, and it won't be seen from the front of the box.
I'll post pictures of the final install today once it's all wired up.
Point is, I wouldn't recommend you buy prefab box because they: often are made of inferior particle board, are not dimensioned correctly for your car or application, carpet matching is hit or miss, etc. Build one, you'll appreciate the work so much more.

well the thing with this back seat style box is there's no decent place for you to display the amps. all you see is the box. You can tuck the amps away somewhere hidden for sure, ie behind, on top of the box but that's it. Unless you do a custom enclosure somewhere else for the amps to display it.

Here's what it looks like in the car. The amp is mounted on top of the box, but is covered by the extra height of the front. His amp was a tad large, so I wasn't able to push it back as far as I'd like. But it was still pretty flush.
Trimmed 3 inches off the sides to clear the trunk arms and springs. He wanted to be able to get his box in and out easily. Or else it'd have sat a little prettier.
If I had all the materials and tools, it can be done in just about a 2-3 hours.
BTW, those 2 10W3s sounds pretty darn good to me. Nice and tight.
