Default Quick help needed.

I originally posted about buying a 2000 GS4 with 130k for 6800. One owner older lady, one mechanic maintained. Second trip didn't go well as I don't have the car. I test drove it again and the check engine light was on. The guy said it was do to his EX wife putting regular fuel in it. He had the car after his mother passed and is selling everything now to move to FL. Talked to mechanic and he said it was meticulously maintained. I could see how regular fuel would do this. This car is mint and drives PERFECT otherwise but I walked because of the check light. Millenium Silver Palt Edition everything is perfect. I do believe the story and really want the car. I don't think the belt was done but all other maintenence was. He won't budge at 6800. What should I do if anything? Nicest GS I have driven yet. Please any help.

CEL is probably a bad o2 sensor? Take a code reader with you or have him meet you at an auto zone to run the code for you.

Last Saturday when I drove it I didn't notice the light on that is why I drove back 75 miles to buy it. I could have overlooked it but I doubt it. I have had an 01 IS for 6 yeara so I am not totally stupid to Lexus cars. I just wanted to knowif I should have them take it to an independant mechanic of my choice up there, which he said he would, to have it checked out for 70-80$ to give me a piece of mind that it is that simple? Or is Autozone way good enough? Guess I need someone to lay it on thick and in black and white. Thanks for the quick feedback

All it takes is a minute of common sense to digest your thoughts..so take a minute.. Now What do you think is best from the two choices?

Whell I did leave the car there. As hard as it was. Coming from someone that has never walked on a nice car deal but this one. I would go as far as a mechanic down there to clear it and buy it. Otherwise find me that meticulous one owner dentist's wife owned plat edition for 6800 I will buy it cash in hand lol. Very frustrated. I haven't owned every nice car but I have owned a 91 Sy. 02 Q Lexus Acura Nissan and this is the only one that has me perplexed on my decision thats why I am asking .

It's more than likely an easy fix. o2 sensor, maf, or something emissions related. Either have him get the car checked or have him knock the price down to $6000.

Hoping someone doesn't do it before me. He wouldn't do 6600. So I may have an independant mechanic check it out for $70.
